What’s Happening at Christ the King from 2nd August?

Dear Parishioner

Sadly I am not able to say Mass in the church at the present time and the Diocese cannot provide cover for me at the moment.

We are planning to start English Masses again from the 6th September – Click here for further details

The diocesan Latin Mass Chaplaincy, staffed by priests of the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter, will be celebrating Masses at 8.30am and 1pm.
Due to social distancing, the capacity of those Masses are going to be greatly reduced and likely to be quite busy with the Chaplaincy’s usual Mass-goers. There are other English Masses being celebrated elsewhere in Bedford, but if you wish to attend one of these Latin Masses it is important to book in advance by emailing bedfordlatinmass@gmail.com

Without booking, if there are no seats left free on the day, sadly you would have to be turned away.

At Christ the King we must adhere to the Guidance for the Celebration of Mass from the Diocese and the Government guidelines so we are sticking to the 2 metres social distancing rule, the hygiene requirements and all that is within the guidelines. This also means will will have to take people’s details for ‘Track and Trace’ requirements.

It would be a good idea if you read the Guidance for the Celebration of Mass to see how the Celebration of Mass will be changing for the foreseeable future.

Are you now obliged to attend Mass on Sundays from the 4th July?
The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales have continued to offer dispensation regarding the obligation of Sunday Mass attendance. The Diocese of Northampton encourages those who can to attend a Mass during the week or on Saturday mornings or evenings rather than the busier Sundays. If you are in the shielded group or wish not to attend, parishes are encouraged to stream Mass as they were during lockdown.

What the other Catholic churches in Bedford are doing regarding their Masses can be found by clicking Here.

We are still having private prayer with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the church as follows:

Sundays from 10am to 12 noon
Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon
Fridays from 5pm to 7pm

God Bless,
Father Patrick

The following sheets are available for you when you enter the church for private prayer:
Opening of our Church for Personal Prayer – Notes for Parishioners
Opening our Churches for Prayer
Please take them away with you after you have finished your private prayer.

Note: The parish newsletter is also available should you want a copy.

We need more ‘stewards’ to help with the church opening and at the Latin Mass, if you can help contact Katherine on 07985 214854 for more information or email ctkchurchbed@yahoo.co.uk
